Early Morning Challenge: Not AN Easy Task:
“Lose an hour in the morning, and you will be all day hunting for it” – Richard Whately.
“Early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise” – Benjamin Franklin. This is a quote that all of us have grown up with, we were reminded time and again about the benefits of waking up early in the morning by our parents and grandparents. Most of us may find it very difficult to drag ourselves from our beloved beds and start the day early. We may tend to procrastinate and delay by saying that “I will for sure get up early tomorrow and hit the gym or go for a walk or run” but in reality this hardly ever happens that we keep to our promise of getting up early. Certainly, it can be quite a task for some to jump out of bed and get going in the morning. The following are some techniques you can follow that will help you beat the early morning blues and get up in the morning.
1) Sleep on time:
It can be very difficult to get up in the morning if you don’t get a good night’s sleep. Your body needs an average of 8-9 hours of sleep to function well on the next day, so if you don’t get the required amount of sleep you will not be able to get up in the morning and you may also tend to feel tired for the rest of the day. Set a fixed time to sleep every day and be consistent. Reduce distractions from your surroundings to make your bedroom environment more conducive for a good night’s sleep.
2) Keep the alarm away from your bedside table:
Many of us have the habit of keeping an alarm on our bedside tables, or next to us on the bed or under our pillow even, but this habit can be quite detrimental to the concept of getting up early in the morning. The key here is to keep your phone or your alarm clock away from you, so that you have to get up and switch off the alarm.
Akshay Kumar, Mark Zuckerberg, Narendra Modi, Shahrukh Khan, the CEO of Twitter – Jack Dorsey are just some of the numerous examples of successful people who give an early start to their day. Our lives today is packed with things, our to – do lists and we are always finding ourselves trying to do multiple things and finding time for the things that come next. This issue of lack of time can be sorted if we bring in the habit of waking up early.
4) Visualize the benefits:
The benefits of getting up early in the morning are many like, there are less distractions, you have time for exercise, your productivity will increase, you will have time for a good and healthy breakfast, you will not have to rush constantly, you will be able to find time for yourself and you may not see it initially but after giving it time you will find yourself to be happier. These are just some of the benefits of getting up early in the morning and you can close your eyes, visualize the benefits and add or delete the benefits as per you.
5) Wake up at the same time everyday:
As important it is to sleep at the same time every day, it is equally important to wake up at the same time every day. If you wake up at the same time every day, your body will get accustomed to the routine and you will be able to get up in the morning with ease. the only trick here is to be consistent and keep at it.
“Work hard, stay positive and get up early. It’s the best part of the day” – George Allen Sr.
“Early is a priceless timepiece owned by the successful – Johnnie Dent Jr.
